CHORISTER BIOGRAPHIES
Robert JenkinsRobert completed his Bachelor in Music (Honours) degree at Birmingham Conservatoire in 2012, after winning the Cecil Drew Oratorio Prize there in 2011. Robert was Tenor Lay Clark at Birmingham Cathedral for 5 years, having previously sung there as a treble. He is a member of a number of professional ensembles, including the BBC Singers, Ex-Cathedra, Polyphony, Philharmonia Voices, Siglo de Oro and the Proteus Ensemble. He has also enjoyed singing with many professional church choirs in London, most notably Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, St Martin in the Fields, Chelsea Old Church and Westminster Cathedral. Robert is in demand as a soloist and has also enjoyed numerous opera roles on stage. |
Sebastian CharlesworthA graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he formally trained as a bassoonist, Seb sings as a soloist and chorally in the UK and abroad whilst continuing his studies privately with Linda Hutchison. Operatic roles have included; Orestes Iphigénie en Tauride, Malatesta Don Pasquale, Pelléas Pelléas et Mellisande, Prince YeletskyQueen of Spades, Captain MacHeath The Beggar’s Opera, Masetto Don Giovanni and Cascada Merry Widow with companies such as New Sussex Opera, Surrey Opera, OperaCoast, Opera Anywhere and Opera Danube. He was a finalist in the inaugural British Music Society Art Song competition as part of the London Song Festival. As a professional chorister, Sebastian has worked with numerous groups including Metro Voices and RSVP Voices and can be heard on many recent blockbusters as well as recording projects for Adele and Scott Walker. |
Vanessa BowersVanessa attended the Junior Royal Academy of Music as a violist and pianist before entering the Royal Academy as a singer, gaining her BMus in Vocal Studies. She made her BBC Proms debut as a soloist in Bernstein MASS with the BBC Orchestra of Wales in 2013 followed by her debut at the Lucerne Festival singing Coro by Berio with Sir Simon Rattle in 2014. Most recently she has been invited to sing with Det Norske Solistkor including performances in Oslo and Trondheim of works by Berio, Tavener and Kleiberg. |
Emily WenmanEmily completed her MA in Vocal Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she studied under Leah Marian Jones. She now trains with acclaimed soprano Gail Pearson. Emily is a principle soprano for professional ensembles including Blossom Street, The St Martin’s Voices Fellowship at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, The Gesualdo Consort, Seren Singers, and Newman Hall Choir, and is an ex-choral scholar of The Chapel Choir of King’s College London and The BBC National Chorus of Wales. Emily is an experienced singing teacher and vocal animateur, and has worked on projects for The BBC National Chorus of Wales, The Arts Active Trust and WNO Max. |
Harriet BurnsHarriet is a scholarship student at the Guildhall School of Music and Dramam, a 2017/2018 Samling Artist and a 2017/2018 Wigmore Hall Chamber Tots Ensemble Artist. In 2017 she was chosen by Graham Johnson as the winner of the Paul Hamburger prize for lieder, won the GSMD Franz-Schubert-Institut competition, was a semi-finalist in Das Lied competition and a finalist in the International Student Lied Duo Competition. Harriet also enjoys working with young voices and is the vocal coach of the choristers of St Mary Merton and is on the committee for the Voices of London Festival. |
Musical Director: Hilary CampbellHilary Campbell is a freelance choral specialist, and is founder and Musical Director of professional chamber choir Blossom Street, and Musical Director of Bristol Choral Society, Chiswick Choir and the Music Makers of London. Her guest work includes ensembles such as the BBC Symphony Chorus, Trinity Laban Chamber Choir, BBC Radio 4’s Daily Service Singers, the University of Greenwich Choir and the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Chorus, whom she recently prepared for a performance of Mahler Symphony No. 2 at Royal Festival Hall conducted by Semyon Bychkov. She also runs an annual project with Master of the Queen’s Music, Judith Weir, at the Royal Academy of Music, in conjunction with Blossom Street and the RAM composition department, and is conductor of P&O Ferries Choir, the group which won the BBC2 series The Choir, and whom she met whilst filming for the series. |
